&
Jessica Voorsanger

22 June to 15 July 2022
Opening Party: Wednesday 22 June 6 - 8pm

School Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new work by Isabelle Hayman & Jessica Voorsanger. This is the third exhibition in a series of experimental pairings at School for 2022.

Isabelle Hayman is a French artist based in London. She trained as a textile designer at the ESAADuperre Paris, and completed a Master of Fine Arts from Paris I. She has extensive experience in the textile and home ware industries and spent time living in Java. Childhood connections to Africa and a love of travel deeply inform her work. Her background in textiles, decorative arts as well as inspiration from books and travel are important elements of her creative process. Isabelle's work can be viewed through the lens of her Botanical Series and Portraits of Varied Femininity.

Jessica Voorsanger’s work explores popular culture with a particular fascination on celebrity. Historically this began with a subjective focus on fan adulation but the work has come to explore these themes in relation to identity, gender and humour using colour, pattern, performance and interactivity as vehicles within a multi-disciplinarian practice. Voorsanger uses a wide range of media from painting and installation to performance and addresses difficult subjects like her relatively recent experiences of cancer.

All the experimental 2 person exhibitions will be archived in a publication with a unique piece of writing for each show.
